> Desert voices

Perhaps nowhere in the world are the impacts of desertification more challenging than in Africa, where it is inextricably linked to poverty, migration and food security.

By talking with farmers, pastoralists, refugees, and others, we can gain a unique insight into the effects of desertification on all aspects of people's lives. Their first-hand accounts help to ensure that the voices of those affected by desertification really are heard and acted upon.

These photos from Ethiopia were taken as part of Panos London's Desert Voices project.
